Founding Members

Alpaca Ontario, established in October 2001, was founded by a group of dedicated alpaca owners and breeders in Ontario.These founding members made a one-time contribution of $200 each, in addition to regular membership fees, to provide the initial capital for the association's launch. Their collective vision was to promote awareness of the alpaca industry, develop the fibre value chain, offer education on alpaca husbandry and breeding practices, and foster networking among members. 

The founding members of Alpaca Ontario include (Many of whom have now retired):

• Susan Garrett & Greg Precop - Celestial Casa Alpacas
• Norma Wall - Misty Haven Alpacas
• Kathleen Holmes & Erma Burkhart - Salem Alpacas
• Hanne & Robert Quigley - Silent Valley Alpacas 
• Nancy Carr - Silver Cloud Alpacas

These farms and individuals laid the foundation for what has become a thriving community dedicated to the alpaca industry in Ontario. Several of these farms have since retired, several farms are still in opperation and open to the public! 

First Shows: The first show was in Carp, Ontario in 2001, as were the 2002 and 2003 Shows.
